An interesting article on why people should choose vinyl flooring on Rubber Flooring inc blog.
“When we think about vinyl flooring, we often have a mental picture of outdated and out of style bathroom flooring in older homes. The go-to low cost option for many decades, vinyl flooring was perceived as cheap and lacking beauty and range of options. Vinyl flooring developed a bad reputation, causing a wide array of deluxe flooring materials to hit the market. With more options available these past few decades, we have seen friends and family replace their old vinyl flooring with more “modern” and “trendy” flooring options. Recently reborn, vinyl flooring is making a comeback and is now one of those “modern” and “trendy” flooring options of the future. Technologically advanced, vinyl flooring should be known for the amazing and versatile flooring that it truly is, the flooring of the future.”
An inexpensive way to improve the look of your home or commercial property is to install a vinyl floor also known as sheet vinyl. Vinyl is often glued down but there are non glued types of sheet vinyl. The benefits of vinyl is the durability and its ability to repel water. The ideal locations for installing vinyl is in bath rooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, mud rooms and foyers. When you install in the bathroom make sure to use a silicone based caulk around tubs and toilets to keep the water from getting under the vinyl and lifting the vinyl up.

I’ve been searching the internet recently to see if there is anything that clearly explains how to strip and wax a linoleum floor. To my surprise there really isn’t. In this article I’m going to go over how to remove wax and dirt build up, teach you how to remove the floor stripper in an organic fashion, and then teach you how simple it is to apply floor finish to a linoleum floor.
Stripping and Cleaning
- Mix 1 1/2 cups of ammonia to every 1 gallon of water in a bucket
- Poor a small amount of your floor stripping solution in a small area
- With a nylon brush or scouring pad proceed to scrub at the floor
- After floor stripping Let the ammonia dry.
We found this advice on how to quickly fix a torn low quality vinyl floor.
“First off that appears to be cheap PVC (Vinyl) sheet, not linoleum (linoleum is a natural product made from flax seed). And the term ‘grout’ may set someone on the wrong path helping you.
Your faceless home store will have a variety of vinyl sheet goods glues and seam sealers for this purpose. The seam sealer is probably the best bet as it comes in the smallest sizes, and you need just a tiny amount.
Dry it out first. Open the windows, and get some heavy objects to keep it flat while the glue out-gasses and dries. Use saran wrap to protect the heavy objects.”
